There is a cacophony of figures for Tirana's waste concession. The opposition initially called the affair 120 million euros, and then corrected the target to 430 million euros. Both of these figures are derived from the business plan of the concessionaire company itself. The first is the cost of building the incinerator, while the second is the total revenue that the concession is expected to generate. And yet, none of them represent the real business of Tirana's incinerator. Because he is bigger. The graph above shows the receipts of the concessionaire company in the first four years of its operation, according to data from the official balance sheets from KKB.
In the first year of operation, the South Korea Phone Number List company Integrated Energy collected 10 million euros. In the second year the figure increased to 14.7 million euros and then the growth continued to reach 22.6 million euros in 2021. So, in total for the first four years, the concessionaire collected 67.3 million euros. But more important than the total figure, is the growth trend in the income stream. In just four years, revenues have increased from 10 million euros to 22.6 million euros, an average of 31.5 percent per year. Why is this important? But that would not be realistic. Let's take a growth rate 6 times lower than that. So let's assume that the income will increase by an average of 5 percent per year, which is completely realistic considering the growth of Tirana's population and that of waste generation. How much money does the concessionaire collect by the end of the concession if revenues grow 5 percent each year? Mathematically, the sum of a geometric series is calculated according to the following formula. ∑=a(r^(n+1)-1)/(r-1) where a is the initial value, n expresses the number of years, while r represents the growth factor. In the case of the Sharra incinerator, the initial value is that of the income in 2021.
